My name is Alexander Artem. I'm 21. I’m fighting for my country, Russia, in WWI. Above is a picture of our flag. I also have a few animals, a and two cats. Our reaction to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was for us to sign a treaty with Serbia. I have a wife. Also above is a picture of me, my brothers, and father, who are also in the war. We were brought into the war because it was supposed to have a devastating impact on us. Another reason was because we were brought in from the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. We started to patriotically around Nicholas ll. I'm in the army part of the war. This is a picture of where I used to live before I joined the army.

Its almost 5 days till christmas and im very afarid that i will not make it home to visit my wife and family back home.As you may recall from the last time I wrote I was talking about why my country, Russia, was in the war. This time I’m going to tell you about what kind of weapons we had used. I have a picture of my weapon right here. I also have some pictures from what it looked like while we were at war. Here's a propaganda poster Russia used. The battle plan for Russia was to fight Germany and win then go to France. The Germans had hoped this didn't happen because the Germans had planed to move straight through France to get to Russia. The exiting of Russia and entering of the USA did not effect my country as much as I thought because I am fighting for Russia.
December 25,1914 Today is Christmas. We have heard that we are not going to make it home for Christmas. The days keep getting worse here.there is gunfire all around and we are running out of food. I'm worried that i will not make it through this war because i'm having lots of trouble breathing. We are all spending Christmas together and having our own dinner but there is not much to eat, unfortunatly. We are celebrating in our trenches that way if anyone trys to take over we will be able to stop them.

Today is the last day of this year tomorrow will be a new year and i'm hoping that this war will end very soon so that i will make it home to see my family. We are all hoping that we are going to make it home actually. We are celebrating the new year this year as much as we can but can not promise that any of us will make it out. They say that it will be a while before the end of they war and a treaty, but they don't say how long. I can't wait to get out of here. We are running out of food for all of us men. I don't really have much more to say because i have to go to fight and help keep a trench. I probaly won't talk till the war is over.

Today the war ended. It feels so much different. Now that the war has ended I am tralveling back home to see my wife and tell her how much i missed her so much. They said that the treaty with Versailles will not happen until 1919 though. We are not very happy about that happening. We are all excited about going home from the war.
June 28,1919
The treaty of Versailles was signed today. The war is officaly over. I'm so glad because now we get to go home. We were effected because Poland was made and the were taking away land that we had.
